How lucky are we, us women growing up in the millennial era, where we are allowed to be career driven and have an opinion? Well, I am calling bullshit on the entire thing. Don't mistake me, the fact that we are given a portion of freedom of speech and the opportunity to succeed in the corporate world is a massive leap forward. However, it does make me think.
There is no stopping a modern aged female

Why have women over decades fought for the right to be treated equally? After all, every man in this world comes from a woman. Being a female in her late twenties, I am facing the ultimatum of whether I want to pursue my career for the next few years or start a family. Whether I want to or not, me focusing on my career comes with biological restrictions. If I choose to pursue my career, there is the possibility that starting a family becomes increasingly more difficult. But here is the thing, that's not my main area of concern. Already as a female, I have had to fight my way up the corporate ladder, just to be respected. Earning respect in the work environment as a female is a job on its own. Not only that, the moment you show interest in starting a family, you become disregarded. When companies ask you what you want in 5 years, without a doubt you answer with the same generic answer. The moment you mention you want a child, you are labeled a liability. Whether people admit it or not, it is the truth.
What I am trying to figure out is, are women really being treated more equally? Or are we just given more opportunities in this generation with hidden terms and conditions?
As a female, in the corporate world, I feel the need to overcompensate. I do more work than my male colleagues, not because I have to but because I feel obligated to in order to prove myself. I am the only one that feels like this?
